Machida Academy Programs

Group and private class offered for all ages 4yr+.

Little Dragon Program

It focuses on supporting their development of hand-eye coordination, rhythms, and understanding their body in space.

Activities include social development games, ludic teaching elements, relating self-defense with simple figures, such as a frog or a bear, that the kids can easily remember.

It also covers Machida Karate fundamentals, self-defense, pad work, and meditation.

Youth Samurai Program

It focuses on developing self-confidence, supporting their development of hand-eye coordination, rhythms, and understanding their body in space.

It also covers Machida Karate fundamentals, self-defense with partner drills and addressing bullying situations, pad work, meditation, and social development games.

YOUTH SAMURAI ADVANCED

This program is a continuation of Youth Samurai. Students must be blue-white belt and up (7 yr to 11 yr). Green-white belts are welcome to join with instructor approval.

There is more functional application of the techniques learned, with more partner drills and sparring.

Teen Tigers Program

The Teen Tigers Program is for teenagers 12 yr to 15 yr.

It teaches the most essential Karate techniques of martial arts and covers self-defense for common situations. Topics include footwork, strikes, kicks, blocks, grappling fundamentals, and self-defense techniques.

Students will graduate to the Adult Fundamentals program at age 16 regardless of belt rank. For students who achieve the solid Blue belt by age 15, it will be recommended for them to attend the Adult Advanced.

Adult Programs

Adult Fundamental Program

The program teaches the most essential Karate techniques and covers self-defense for common situations. Topics include footwork, strikes, kicks, blocks, grappling fundamentals, and self-defense techniques.

Students will see improvement physically and develop motivation and confidence.

ADULT ADVANCED PROGRAM

The Adult Advanced program is a continuation of the Adult Fundamental program.

Students must be Machida Karate Orange belt and higher or Black belt from traditional Karate (with approval). Also, the student should already possess the knowledge of self-defense and Karate fundamentals.

It focuses on developing deeper understanding and application of techniques from Adult Fundamentals.

Students will learn distance management and timing combined with grappling, advanced striking and fight applications.

Private Classes

Private classes are designed to provide personalized instruction tailored to student unique goals and skill level.

The Academy instructors are all very skilled and patient. Classes are conducted in a safe, professional and encouraging environment for kids and adults alike. I have a lot of experience in martial arts (Kempo Karate, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, BJJ) but I started in Karate. This was an awesome way to get back to my Karate roots. I was able to attend the fundamentals and advanced classes and had an absolute blast doing so. I’m a huge fan of the Machida family, and learning from Chinzo had me starstruck. I’ll definitely be back!!! And on the off chance I ever move to California I know where I’ll be!

My 2 kids started from ages 6 and 10, they are now 12 and 16, my son is now assisting the classes and the instructors/senseis have all been such great mentors. My son would not be who he is today if we hadn’t found this dojo. Both their grades are As, they are so respectful/respected, responsible, kind, caring, and so mature. I can’t thank our senseis enough, they are the nicest people you will ever meet, but still strict, but full of love, they really care about each and every one of their students. And my son is the same, he will take anyone under his wings and help the best he can to get to the next belt, the next goal, the next step even if baby steps. It’s not easy to continue to improve yourself every day it takes a lot of work, discipline and dedication. It’s not cheap, but it is priceless, my kids will take the learnings all throughout their lives. You don’t have to go just for the belt, the color is not what determines you- it’s how you improve yourself, stay fit and learn skills to defend yourself and feel good about yourself, regardless of what belt you are. And teaching children values that is beyond any belt color.
